Choose Your Starting Point

Where Are You in the Insurance Claim Process?

Every homeowner reaches out at a different point. Start with the situation that sounds most like yours. The same estimate request works for each path and gives our office the information needed to review the next step.

The Contractor Side of the Claim

How an Insurance-Related Roofing Project Usually Moves Forward

The exact sequence depends on the property, the carrier, and the policy. Our role is to inspect and document the roofing and construction conditions, prepare contractor information, and keep the project side organized.

1

Tell Us What Happened

Share the property address, date of loss if known, visible concerns, and whether a claim has already started.

2

Send Claim Information

Provide the carrier, claim number, adjuster contact, inspection date, and any documents already received.

3

Roof Inspection

We review visible roof and exterior conditions and photograph relevant findings.

4

Adjuster / Carrier Review

The carrier investigates the loss and makes coverage decisions under the policy.

5

Contractor Estimate

We prepare the roofing or exterior project scope and contractor estimate based on the work we are proposing.

6

Scope Clarification

When warranted, we provide factual documentation for additional construction items or visible conditions not reflected in the original scope.

7

Replacement & Closeout

After the project moves forward, we complete the contracted work and provide project completion records as appropriate.

What We Look For

Storm Damage & Roof Condition Checklist

Storm-related roof problems are not always obvious from the driveway. Our inspection may look for visible conditions such as:

Missing or Lifted ShinglesWind can loosen, crease, displace, or remove shingles.
Wind Creasing & Seal DamageShingles may lift without fully blowing off.
Hail Impact IndicatorsVisible impact conditions may appear on shingles or soft metals.
Damaged Roof AccessoriesPipe boots, vents, caps, flashings, and other components may be affected.
Gutters & DownspoutsDents, impact marks, separation, or storm-related damage may be visible.
Interior Leaks or StainingWater entry can appear in ceilings, walls, or attic areas.
Attic MoistureWet decking, staining, or moisture may help identify active entry points.
Fallen DebrisBranches or other debris can damage roof surfaces and accessories.
Roof Deck ConcernsSome conditions cannot be fully confirmed until roofing materials are removed.
Prior Repairs & WearPre-existing conditions and older repairs are documented separately from visible storm-related concerns.

Already Have Documents?

Send Us the Insurance Estimate or Claim Information You Already Have

A carrier estimate can be a useful starting point because it shows the scope currently reflected in the claim. Our office can review it from the contractor side, compare it with the work we are proposing, and identify where additional construction information may be needed.

Helpful documents include: the carrier estimate, claim summary, claim number, adjuster contact information, inspection appointment details, photographs, correspondence about the roof, and any coverage or payment documents you already received.

You can start with our insurance claim estimate request and include the carrier and claim number. Documents can also be emailed to sales@donnysroofing.com with the property address in the subject line.

Important to Understand

The Contractor’s Role Is Different From the Insurance Carrier’s Role

Donny’s Home Improvement evaluates roofing and construction conditions and prepares the scope for the work we are proposing. The insurance carrier determines policy coverage, claim approval, payment, depreciation, deductibles, exclusions, and other insurance matters.

Our role: contractor inspection, photographs, construction scope, estimates, project records, and factual communication about documented property conditions.

Not our role: acting as a public adjuster, attorney, insurance agent, or legal representative; interpreting policy coverage; negotiating insurance rights; or guaranteeing claim approval or payment.

Homeowners remain responsible for their deductible and any non-covered or customer-selected work under the policy, contract, and applicable law.

Common Questions

Roof Insurance Claim FAQs

I think I have storm damage, but I have not filed a claim. Can I still request an estimate?

Yes. Tell us what you have noticed and whether a storm, wind event, hail event, leak, or falling debris may be involved. We can review the roofing project and visible conditions. The decision to file a claim belongs to the homeowner.

Should I send Donny’s the insurance estimate?

Yes. It helps us understand the construction scope currently reflected in the claim and compare it with the work we are proposing as the contractor.

Can Donny’s guarantee the insurance company will pay for my roof?

No. Coverage and payment decisions belong to the insurance carrier under the homeowner’s policy. A contractor cannot guarantee approval, coverage, or payment.

What happens if more damage is discovered after the roof is removed?

Some concealed conditions, including portions of the roof deck, may not be fully visible until tear-off. When additional conditions are discovered, they should be photographed, documented, and handled under the contract and any applicable project-change process.

Can you speak with the adjuster?

When appropriate, we can communicate about our contractor estimate, the work we are proposing, and documented visible conditions. We do not act as a public adjuster or negotiate policy coverage.

What if the insurance estimate does not include everything in the contractor scope?

When warranted, we can prepare factual contractor documentation, photographs, estimates, and construction-scope information for additional items we believe are necessary for the work we are proposing. The carrier decides whether any item is covered.

Do I still have to pay my deductible?

Homeowners are responsible for the deductible and for non-covered or customer-selected work as required by the policy, contract, and applicable law.
